![]() Okay, this driver DID work for me! I have sound now! Fun to show off to all my PC-centric workmates!) (Otherwise, very impressed with VirtualBox - been using it for about a year. Makes me smile when I think of the new commercial: "There won't be ANY of the problems of Vista. Seems like it's specific to the 64-bit version, that's causing the problems for me and others? Has anyone found a workaround? Loved the comment that this whole ecosystem is still so broken. So, I can't even get to the point of telling Windows to search for an upgrade. I then updated to VB v3.0.10, with the same results. (Also tried mucking about in the setup.ini files to see if there was a way to hack out the OS version check, but didn't see anything obvious.) Unzipped the file, and saw there are Vista and Vista64 folders in there, which was a good sign, but running setup.exe launches the installer and ultimately tells me "Only Vista is supported with this release." I tried installing the drivers manually from Device Manage / Update Driver / Browse for drivers, but it can't see any valid drivers. I have installed the 64 bit version of Windows 7, but the driver software says it is 32/64 bit, so that shouldn't be a problem? I have the Audio hardware set in Virtualbox as:Īny more ideas I can try? I'll keep hunting around. The message displays a speaker and "Realtek High Definition Audio". Windows found driver software for your device but encountered an error while attempting to install it. Windows encountered a problem installing the driver software for your device. Then, when I attempt to install the driver software, I get the following: It shows up as an unknown device under the Sound, Video, and Gaming controllers. After hunting around in Windows for a while, I found the Device Manager, through which I tried to manually install the Realtek audio device. Windows still can't find the audio device. The driver installation completes and Windows reboots with no problem. Okay - I have attempted to install the driver software twice with the same result.
