![]() I got a glass of water just as we got on to the active taxiway. Coats were collected for some … and not others (mine wasn’t) … drink orders were taken for some and not for others … pushback occurred without any warning. ![]() ![]() The entire process was nothing less than chaotic … crews were running around without any direction. In fact, the entire crew seemed to be extremely disorganized. Upon entering the aircraft, the Australian lead purser welcomed me … but nothing more than that. Boarding was relatively organized as all First and Business passengers were called in. It even had above average airline lounge food options.īoarding was announced 45 minutes prior and I went back downstairs through security to our gate. It is small, but had the all the basic amenities such as internet terminals, a shower, and some good views of the tarmac. Anyways, when to the EY lounge … aptly called, “The Lounge”. So after a quick security, I proceeded to the gate … to be told that the lounge was outside the security zone. When asked which lounge, she had no idea and told me to come back and check with her! Uugh. Finally, she did not have any lounge passes – and said she would call the lounge in. I guess she did not know that SN was part of the FQ TV identifier and not the number itself. I use a SN FFP – and she had inputted the code as “SNB SN XXXX” – now, instead of “ SN – XXXX”. I walked off to see that she had inputted the FFP incorrectly. After 3 prints, I finally got my boarding pass. She did not hear my seat request for a window seat … nor my desire to add an FQ TV info … and just printed the boarding pass. However, its outsourced ground-staff was indifferent at best. It has separate check-in counters for the various classes of service. So I guess, EY needs to just build its reliability of its site.Įtihad uses the very international terminal 4 at JFK. However, it did have all the essential tools including the ability to add FF/chose and edit seats/edit and view booking/etc. Ticketing for the flight was done through the rather fickle Etihad Airways website at While visually appealing, the site crashed several times and I was able to only book after attempt 5. It flies to almost 50 destinations including a daily 345 link on its “flagship” route to JFK. Of course, it helped that I had never flown Etihad and wanted to sample their product.Įtihad has been covered several times on A.Net – and the positive reviews of their JFK- AUH- JFK flight was one of the reason that inspired me to book and check them out myself.Įtihad Airways is the proclaimed “national airline of the U.A.E.” Formed in 2003, it is based in Abu Dhabi and now carries upward of 6 million passengers. Beirut is one of my favorite cities in the world … and the fact that I could take a quick 4 day trip relatively cheaply was fantastic. I had not seen a friend of mine in Beirut for a while and jumped at Etihad’s great J deals out of New York.
